On August 23rd, P.H.A.S.E 1 Academy took a cross continental step into Africa to establish its first academy in Burundi. Its establishment is the embodiment of a goal P.H.A.S.E.1’s founder, Wayne Dawkins had since he started the organization 20 years ago.

“There’s this huge passion for basketball among the youth in Burundi, but they need coaches, they need courses, people to train them, and resources,” Patrick Bizindavyi, a Burundian basketball coach said.

Technical Director of the Academy in Burundi, Hakizimana Alexis, says he believes P.H.A.S.E. 1 created a much needed foundation for the development of Burundian basketball that he hopes other interests will help to build on.

The academy, established in the city of Bujumbura, aims to provide the resources needed for the development of Burundian basketball. Join us as we continue to fulfill our mandate of supporting and funding global youth development through sport initiatives.
