On November 27th 2006, four teams from the GTA competed in two exhibition games on the floor of the Air Canada Centre in front of friends, family and thousands of basketball fans. This historic marked the first time ever high school basketball team competed in the Air Canada Centre.

Metro PHASE 1 and Eastern Commerce Collegiate presented the “METRO HOOPS SHOWCASE”, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for all the participants to experience basketball at the professional level.

What was at stake for these aspiring athletes was a sense of pride and achievement as they left their mark on history. As promised, the event was a great night to celebrate high school basketball as the first annual “METRO HOOPS SHOWCASE” trophy was presented to the two winning teams.

P.H.A.S.E. 1 would like to thank all the event organizers, coaches, schools, student athletes and their parents for their support in making this historic community event possible.
