After many years of successfully developing basketball players and moving on to post secondary institutions, P.H.A.S.E. 1 was faced with the challenge of continuing the on and off court development of Canadian basketball’s most underserved group. Many Canadian professional basketball players and coaches did not have a place to hone their skills in Canada and upcoming professionals need valuable high level competition to continue their pursuit of professional careers. Therefore the Men’s Elite 1’s League was formed. For 3 year summers at Seneca College, 4 teams of our nation’s best basketball players including national team players, Jermaine Anderson, Olu Famutimi, Jevohn Shepherd and NBA draft pick Denham Brown played games televised on Rogers TV with hundreds of fans out to cheer.

The Men’s Elite 1’s League have also created coaching opportunities for aspiring Canadian professional coaches at the professional level that have not existed in Canada for Canadians. Toronto Raptors former Head Coach, Jay Triano for years, was Canada’s only coach for professional athletes in Canada.
